Job Description:

The Kizhaay Coordinator is responsible for the provision of Indigenous culture-based community services, one-on one peer counselling and group activities. The Kizhaay program is focused exclusively on the engagement of Indigenous men and male youth committed to ending all forms of violence perpetrated against Indigenous women and girls in their personal lives and within their community.
The Worker will be responsible to follow the policies and procedures as determined by the Board of Directors and under the direct daily supervision of the Executive Director or designate.

Requirements

• 2-year College Diploma or a University Degree in Indigenous Studies and/or Social Work, or a combination of an equivalent and relevant education, skills and abilities as determined by the employer;
• Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture, and both historical and contemporary indigenous issues. Emphasis being on family violence, child welfare, the impacts of trauma, indigenous youth engagement and community outreach;
• Understanding of Indigenous youth engagement models of practice, community enga
