Job Description:

Let's Get Moving is an after-school program that operates Monday to Friday in both the Public and Catholic Board. Each program runs for 2 hours after the final dismissal bell, with staff working 2.25 hours each shift. Programs operate at a ratio of one staff to 15 participants. Staff are required to: 

  • Develop and deliver an engaging, physical activity and wellness based program for children grades 1-6 for two hours each day

  • Work professionally, respectfully, and collaboratively with fellow employees, supervisors, school staff, parents/guardians and community members

  • Demonstrate strong leadership, independence, and initiative skills by working in an environment without consistent Supervisor/superior on site

  • Demonstrate use of positive behaviour management techniques

  • Engage with participants in a meaningful way that encourages their growth, confidence, independence and social skills

  • Ensure program safety and security by effectively and confidently acting as a first responder to in-program occurrences

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills by completing all necessary paperwork, documentation, and job related tasks in a timely manner

  • Demonstrate strong prioritization skills by implementing problem solving techniques in a high-pace environment

Work Site Location

Let's Get Moving operates in 13 sites, ranging from the west to east end of Hamilton with 2 locations on the mountain.
Work Site is Bus Accessible

Requirements

  • High Five Principles of Healthy Childhood Development

  • CATCH Kids Club

  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C

  • Vulnerable Sector Check dated in the last 6 months

  • Safe Food Handlers Certified

  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certified (optional)

  • Individuals currently enrolled in, or have

    Additional Information

    Previous experience working in a recreation setting is preferred.
