Position Type: Year-round Contract, Part-time

Hours: 25 hours a week, evenings and alternating weekends a must, along with working on public holidays

Located at the head of Lake Ontario and within the municipalities of Burlington and Hamilton, Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG) is the largest botanical garden in Canada and one of the nation’s earliest nature sanctuaries. Comprising some 2700 acres of protected wetlands, botanical collections, parkland and display gardens, and within easy access of millions of nature-starved urban citizens, 

Royal Botanical Gardens is looking for two talented, energetic, customer-oriented people to add to our Membership team.   As a Membership Representative you will be a friendly and knowledgeable ambassador for the Gardens and the first point of contact on-site for membership inquiries and sales.


Reporting to the Development Officer, the Membership Representative is responsible for:

  • Providing excellent customer service to RBG members and potential members, in person or by phone
  • The frontline fulfillment of membership sales and renewals
  • Maintaining, updating and creating new member accounts in database system
  • Processing cash, cheque, debit and credit card transactions
  • Tracking member admissions at RBG Main Centre
  • Daily reporting of membership sales and admissions
  • Daily reconciliation of sales
  • Development administrative support as required, filing, various data entry, mailings etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Site Location

Work Site is Bus Accessible


  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years customer service experience
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years sales experience
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Office 365
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Must be organized and have a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and make appropriate decision when challenged
  • Responsible, mature, outgoing team player who can work well as part of a team and with little supervision
