This employee will provide delivery of direct support services to individuals we support within their residential group home setting and community.  The staff is responsible for providing opportunities for residents to participate, to their full potential, in recreation, social, leisure and special events as planned in order to increase or maintain their social, physical, emotional and intellectual well-being.  Support services include all areas of daily living: hygiene/toileting routines, medication dispensing, meal preparation/feeding, housekeeping, chores, safety, nightly inspections, programming, behaviour supports, opportunities to participate fully in planned recreational, social and leisure programming community participation, and promote social inclusion. Provide supervision and ensure safety of individuals at all times.  Will complete required reports/documentation as assigned. May be required to support individuals who display challenging behaviours and will be required to implement behavior support plans/strategies/protocol in keeping with the YWCA Hamilton Mission, Vision and Values.

  • Must have College Diploma in Developmental Service Worker (DSW), Social Service Worker (SSW), Community Service Worker (CSW) or Personal Support Worker (PSW) or enrolled in college / university human services related program
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ work or volunteer experience working with adults with a developmental disability in residential group home / community setting / day program
  • Experience, knowledge and ability to work with individuals with challenging behaviours
  • Must have valid Class G Driv
